Sydney Giacin is a Blues fan who attends St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. She has a tradition of making the trip to Ottawa whenever the Blues are in town, but this year was special.

At Sydney's first Blues/Senators game, Jake Allen started in net. Jordan Binnington was on the bench and Sydney's seats were just three away from the glass that separated the two. As the game went on, she jumped-up a row to sit in the seat right next to the glass. While she didn't have the best view, she was sitting next to her idol, Jordan Binnington.

In the second period—after a few instances of awkward eye contact—Sydney lost a bet with the people sititng by her and had to slip Binnington her phone number. She wrote it on a piece of paper with her Snapchat and slid it under a tiny crack in the glass when the team returned to the bench for the third period.

He took it, read it, then pretended to throw it away. But when Sydney looked back at him, she noticed him tucking the note into his glove. Sydney never ended-up getting a text or snap from the tendy, but one year later she got something better.

The Blues faced the Ottawa Senators on the road Thursday night. Sure enough, Sydney was in attendance. She was with the same group of friends that made the trip last year. After hearing Jake was starting she realized Jordan would be on the bench again, and her seats were right by him. She thought "no way he remembers me" since professional athletes meet so many fans.

When Binnington sat down, he and Sydney immediately made eye contact.

"We're matching!" Sydney said motioning to her away jersey.

He laughed.

"Do you remember me?" she asked.

Jordan said "Yeah".

"No way. No you don't."

"You gave me your number," said Binnington, giving her a 🤙🏼 gesture.

Sydney couldn't believe it. Everyone around her was giving her trouble, saying "you broke her heart why didn't you call her?" and "she deserves a stick for that one!"

Jordan left the bench midway through the second and was gone for the rest of the period. Sydney and her friends had no idea where he went. The team returned to the bench after the intermission and Binnington came up to the glass and goes "I have something for you."

Sydney FREAKED. OUT.

He stuck his glove around the glass and there was a puck in it. Jordan had gone into the locker room and signed it "To my OG fan in Ottawa". What a guy.

On top of making the Blues' Instagram story, Sydney noticed that Jordan liked her own post. She sent him a direct message thanking him and he replied:

"So yeah that’s the story of one of the greatest nights of my life," said Sydney.
