These last two games have been hard to watch. Tuesday's game against the Panthers was the worst I have seen the Blues play this season (in years?). Somebody needs to remind the Blues that lackluster effort and soft passing won't cut it in the NHL. Photo: NHL.com What have I noticed? The Blues look like they are down a man for the entire game. Although some guys are showing they care by taking hits and hustling, others simply aren't. The sad part— I can't even name all the players who aren't because there are too many of them. We pass the puck as if it's an egg. Instead of hard tape-to-tape passes, the Blues flip the puck around and throw it away. I won't call out all the players who have costed us goals, but that is the reason we are losing. The Panthers and Islanders capitalized on the Blues' bad passing/turnovers. Actually, I am going to call out some players. Watch Vladimir Tarasenko and Steve Ott turn the puck over and give the Panthers 2 goals in 13 seconds: And guess how the Panthers scored their third goal... Yup, a bad pass. Shattenkirk's saucer pass was intercepted by Derek Mackenzie, who skated right up the middle (untouched) before beating Jake Allen with a wrist shot. In Friday's game, ahhh, I'll just let you watch for yourselves: Grabovski's goal came after Gunnarsson turned it over. There were plenty more turnovers than that (14 for the Blues). Hitch is pissed... I think? He keeps saying the Blues need to "grind on". Well, hopefully they do in tonight's game against the 8-13-5 Maple Leafs. Stay tuned for tonight's previews and lineup. LGB.
